Since vintage 2020 is coming to a close for us at Moorooroo we thought we would let you know what to expect from our 2020 wines.
We wrapped up the harvest with the Lotties vineyard, which, despite the region trend of a low yield year, produced more fruit than last year, far more than expected.
Harvest took place in late March, compared to the last couple of years which saw an early March harvest. This change was due to very slow ripening in the four weeks before harvest, most of the heat we would expect occurred earlier in the season while an abundant canopy protected flowering and fruit set.
During the hand picking of this vintage (while social distancing of course) we saw exceptionally small berries that will lend an intense complexity and colour to 2020 wines.
With the last of the vintage in barrel undergoing malolactic fermentation, we’re confident that 2020 is a vintage to watch!
Cellar Door Update
While things have obviously changed pretty drastically over the past few weeks we’re keeping ourselves busy, working from home as much as possible.
Running a small family business means there’s always plenty to do. Plus now that the cellar door is closed it’s important for us to find new ways to keep in contact with you, our loyal customers.
We wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has purchased wine over the past few weeks. Your support allows us to keep the doors open, at the very least virtually.
Since we now have a little more time on our hands we’re delivering all wine ordered in Adelaide and surrounding suburbs ourselves. Some of you have already seen Jodie at your door, standing a few feet away from your wine. Hand delivering as much wine as we can means that we’re able to negate any local shipping delays. It also limits the number of hands in contact with your wine, so far it’s just Jodie. We’re doing our absolute best to keep ourselves, our customers and our communities safe. So order some wine and say a social distanced hello!
